About the role
The Hampton Roads Shipping Association is seeking a detail-oriented intern to support the Port Safety function across a variety of projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys varied work and is comfortable moving between organizing records, working with data and digital systems, and supporting safety and compliance programs. The intern will work directly with the Director of Port Safety at our Norfolk office and periodically travel to terminal locations, including Virginia International Terminals (VIT) and Virginia International Gateway (VIG).
This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in occupational safety, maritime operations, compliance, logistics, or a related field who wants exposure to how port safety and regulatory programs work day-to-day in one of the nation’s busiest ports.

Atlantic Animal Hospital Opening

Hours: 15-20 hours per week
Shifts: Monday through Friday 1-5pm, every other Saturday 8-12.
Core Responsibilities:
- Sanitize exam rooms, treatment areas, surgery suites and lobby.
- Assist the veterinarians and assistants with animals as needed. You’ll get to hold some cute puppies!
- Yard maintenance.
- Closing duties: Sweeping and mopping floors, changing trash cans, cleaning counters and laundry.
- Inventory and stocking: Replenish medical supplies, stocking cleaning accessories, and exam room inventory.
Candidate Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail, follow cleaning procedures, capable of walking, bending, lifting up to 40 pounds, positive attitude and great communication skills.

Physical Scientist/General Engineer NOAA

As a Physical Scientist/General Engineer, you will perform the following duties:
- Perform engineering or science calculations, develop preliminary design parameters, data and equipment design solutions and specifications, as well as project costs.
- Conduct project analysis of satellite data and frequency interference to determine projects’ impact on public safety, natural or environmentally sensitive locations, mission readiness, and operations during weather conditions. Manage contracts as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
- Work with manufacturers and customers to develop specialized ground equipment enhancing satellite communications and data distribution for various systems.
- Ensure completion of documentation for procurement of divers, complex, novel, and unique electrical, mechanical, physical, science, or civil systems and specialized equipment for satellite or ground systems and various facilities.
